Business Activity Monitoring with Optimize

BAM with webMethods Optimize Platform:

Solis’s BAM offering:
provides management, tools and methodology for aggregation, analysis, and presentation of real time information about activities inside organizations critical business processes takes a holistic view intended to provide a real-time summary of business activities to operations managers and upper management includes implementation of analytical dashboards for Middleware Infrastructure Monitoring and Business Data KPIs for Business Processes (BPM) and B2B transactions (TN)

Solis’s BAM implementation methodology:

Planning and Analysis:
Planning for the appropriate raw data collection from various business processes (BPM) and B2B Transactions (TN) is very critical. A diligent analysis is required to avoid over burn of analytical engines. The analysis phase will also determine:

  • The infrastructure needs of the optimized environment
  • The capacity planning for hardware resources
  • The number of analytical engines and monitor instances (MWS)
  • The technical requirements like persistence, processing mode, access control, user roles, dashboards and portlet UI customization, archiving policies etc.

During this phase, data collection needs are also identified and elaborated with BPM and TN implementations as needed.

Install and Setup:

This phase includes detailed Infrastructure landscape design for:

  • Data Collection components,
  • Analytical Engines
  • Prediction Engine
  • MWS or third-party dashboards.

This phase also includes the capacity planning for analytical engine configuration (clustering) and MWS configuration (multi-site).

Implementation and Execution:

During this phase the data collectors are turned on in the new or existing business processes and other TN processing rules. Any Infrastructure data collectors for Optimize for Infrastructure implementation are also configured to gather needed metrics. The raw data available in the monitor is then configured to be associated as facts and dimensions for analyzing the KPIs for each collection point. Various KPIs, KPI Hierarchies, Rules and Alerts are configured and associated with multiple operational dashboards for real-time monitoring. Various processes related SLAs are configured.

Executive Dashboards and Monitoring:

This phase includes configuring the dashboards around identified KPIs. Determining various roles and activities for the dashboards and individual business users from operations. Providing access for monitoring and review of analytical data in the form of graphs, histograms and pie-charts etc to the management. Customizing dashboards and alerts for users. This phase also includes automated base-lining and proactive diagnosis and trend monitoring of real-time data with historically analyzed data.
